GTA VI estimate
12–19 months?
Based on historical pattern
Rockstar has consistently released PC versions of their major titles, but never at launch. The gap has ranged from 7 months (GTA IV) to 19 months (GTA V). A PC version of GTA 6 is widely expected but has no confirmed date.
Why the delay?
PC has thousands of hardware configurations. Rockstar historically takes extra time to optimize for a wide range of GPUs, CPUs and settings rather than shipping a poorly optimized port.
Launching on consoles first maximizes initial sales and avoids PC piracy during the critical launch window. It also lets Rockstar focus QA on two fixed hardware targets.
Some players buy the console version at launch and the PC version later for better graphics and mods. This pattern has been profitable for Rockstar in the past.
Xbox Series S is part of the Xbox Series X|S family. Games released for Xbox Series X|S must support both consoles. However, the Series S version may have reduced graphics, lower resolution or other compromises compared to Series X and PS5. See the price tracker for regional pricing differences.
There is no indication that GTA 6 will be released on Nintendo Switch 2. The original Switch could not run GTA V, and while Switch 2 is more powerful, it is still significantly behind PS5 and Xbox Series X in raw performance. Use the countdown to track time until the confirmed PS5/Xbox launch.

Premium editions could cost $99.99–$119.99. The $100 standard edition rumor has no official backing. See the price tracker for regional estimates.
Pre-orders are not officially live yet. PS Store and Xbox Store support wishlisting, but wishlist is not the same as a pre-order — it does not reserve a copy or charge your payment method. Based on Rockstar's history, pre-orders typically open 2–4 months before launch, so expect news around August–September 2026. Track pre-order status by store.
