GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026.

The date is official, but the exact hour is not. Digital unlock times can vary by region, platform and store policy. Rockstar has not yet announced whether GTA 6 will have a synchronized global unlock or staggered regional times.

GTA V's launch used a staggered approach — the game unlocked at midnight local time on consoles. Red Dead Redemption 2 used a similar pattern. GTA 6 may follow the same approach, but this has not been confirmed.

Physical copies may be available at retail stores on launch day, but street date enforcement varies by region and retailer. Some stores break street dates; others are strict.

Pre-load will likely be available 1–2 weeks before launch for digital purchases. This lets you download the game in advance so you can play as soon as it unlocks. File size has not been announced, but GTA V was ~50 GB at launch and GTA 6 will likely be significantly larger.

Vice City returns. GTA 6 is set in Vice City — Rockstar's fictionalized version of Miami, Florida. The surrounding area is called Leonida, based on the real state of Florida.

Largest map yet. The map is expected to be the biggest and most detailed in GTA series history, featuring beaches, swamps, urban cityscapes, rural areas and surrounding islands.

Dual protagonists. The story follows Lucia and her partner in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-inspired crime narrative. Lucia is the first female lead protagonist in the mainline GTA series.

Modern setting. Unlike GTA Vice City (2002) which was set in the 1980s, GTA 6 is set in modern-day Vice City with contemporary technology, social media and culture.
